About Claire

As a native New Yorker, Claire Freierman was lucky enough to be able to nurture her passion for food from a young age.  After graduating from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Claire returned to New York to continue indulging her passion for food and drink. She married her interest in food and photography by shooting projects on local and organic farms and by working as a photographer for the on-line food magazine, The Nibble.

In New York City Claire worked as a cheesemonger at one of New York’s most reputable cheese stores where she spent her days recommending cheeses to regular clients.  Claire’s cheese knowledge has been supplemented by extensive study and by visits to farms from New York to California that produce some of the country’s most delicious cheeses.  As many of her customers were interested in pairing wine and cheese, Claire began to educate herself about wine by taking Wine Spectators on-line courses.  She then decided to move from the cheese world to the wine world and took a job as a Wine Consultant at one of New York’s premier wine shops.  During this time she also completed the Intermediate Certificate in Wine and Spirits through the IWC.

Now, in another turn of events, Claire has relocated to rural Ferrisburg, Vermont learn about food production in its most basic form- working on a farm!  Claire is taking this opportunity to fully immerse herself in the world of sustainable agriculture and food, and she discovers delicious new Vermont products (especially cheeses!) every day.

When Claire is not working on the farm or shooting, she likes to unwind by eating a hunk of cheese paired with the perfect wine.   Now, if only she could find a way to eat cheese while she sleeps…
